I don t know if I finished this book or if it finished methis book is literally too high quality for this world I want to assimilate it into my being and find a job where I can apply all the six of crows knowledge that I ve acquired in my life there s literally no combination of 26 letters that could do justice to what this book means to me there s no 3D way of describing how it made me feel 9D in color there s so much of this story and these characters inside my heart, I m surprised it has I don t know if I finished this book or if it finished methis book is literally too high quality for this world I want to assimilate it into my being and find a job where I can apply all the six of crows knowledge that I ve acquired in my life there s literally no combination of 26 letters that could do justice to what this book means to me there s no 3D way of describing how it made me feel 9D in color there s so much of this story and these characters inside my heart, I m surprised it has yet to come apart at the seams at this point, even love is just a secondary emotion to six of crows.here s the thing I pretty much divide up my life by which obsession was taking over my life at the time and I often go through phases with fandoms except with six of crows I m never not obsessed with six of crows I m sure for many of us, no matter how many books you read, there will always be that one book that can never be replaced that one book that got you into all of this yeah, other books may come and go, but you will always come back to that one book the one that will always hold a special place in your heart well, this series is it for me.so if you haven t read these books congratulations the rest of us who did have entered a new era of our lives where LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE WILL EVER BE SATISFYING BECAUSE THIS BOOK HAS SPOILED US ALL INTO FUCKING OBLIVION either way, strap in, folks, because I am going to learn you some things about this book that I only learned myself about two hours ago so sit down and enjoy the experience of my 2 am caffeine induced obsession fuelled writing extravaganza No mourners No funerals Among them, it passed for good luck first of all, becoming the struggling mother of six voraciously angry delinquents wasn t really what I planned to do with my life but here I am I genuinely don t know how I will get through the rest of my existence when I constantly need a pep talk to assure me that I m not personally responsible for the wellbeing of fictional characters so the story starts off goofy and funny just a 17 years old criminal mastermind and his band of merry teenagers breaking into an impregnable prison complex to attempt the greatest heist of all recorded human history they have nothing to lose and 24 million kruge to gain just good ol doing crime for money and boy are they all willing to take the next chance, and the next, and on and on until they re rich. or the chances are spent.but then the story gets progressively darker as about the characters and the plot is revealed until everything is themed funeral and there s so much room for the impossible your brain has too many tabs open your internal monologue pretty much consists of at least seven screaming children you re just trying to move from one crisis to another as elegantly as you can, but you re so on edge you even cover the end of the page with your hand so that you don t accidentally spoil it for yourself the thing about six of crows, is that not only is it expertly written with incredible world building and flawless character developement, it s also so brilliantly ambitious in exploring so many important themes, like racism and racial prejudices, human trafficking, addiction, disabilities, positive self image, lgbtq and so many And that s what makes it stand out so much THE CHARACTERSmy favorite thing about six of crows is that my favorite character is literally whoever character happens to be speaking at any given moment because they re all so good and if you ever briefly consider that I might not love ALL of them, that s where you re mistaken you fool I can multitask and I ll excel at itseriously, my absolute weakness is when a group of unrelated characters, of varying backgrounds, turn found family especially when every single one of them is so incredibly fleshed out and given their own backstory and goals and motivations KAZ BREKKER god, I just I just love kaz brekker I fucking love kaz brekker kaz brekker love him I love him and every version of him except a few but I love him I just, love him so so much I want him to be happy and to find light at the end of whatever darkness he is facing and for it to be warm and embracing and as nurturing as the sun because I love him I love him so goddamn much I love kaz brekker for once in my life it would be nice to be a normal human being and not fall in love with a fictional character but my love for kaz brekker is so deep that it s likely any common sense I ve had left got lost in therekaz brekker is one of the most interesting literary figures that I ve ever encountered he has no fixed personality, no moral compass pointing due north he has a chameleon character which makes him so hard to read, like a wall with another wall behind the wall just imagine the walls going on forever there s just such a detached sense about him, he s untouchable in a way, like you could do whatever you wanted and you wouldn t be able to get under his skin things are only tempting to kaz brekker when they were out of his reach he doesn t care about anything unless he has a direct benefit from it, as if his heart is a nonrenewable resource he s also an expert on the art of bottling up his grudges and letting them age like fine wine but truth is, all of his actions with all their mirages and smokes and mirrors are only meant to delude you into forgetting that kaz brekker is really just a seventeen years old kid with severe PTSD there s a deep mournful sound that comes from my chest whenever I think about the day kaz brekker was born, a little black haired miracle with such a loving demeanor and the brightest future ahead of him he had his whole childhood on a farm with his family probably chasing butterflies, eating warm food, and being happy and gentle and innocent.until his father dies, then his big brother, and within a month, he is a heartless cold blooded criminal who s only connected to his family by the gravity of wanting to heap fresh tortures on the people who hurt them and all of it still makes me want to cry so I guess it s over any happiness I will experience in this life ever INEJ GHAFA Inej is a middle estern coded, acrobat turned spy victim of human trafficking and forced prostitution but who s escaped and has vowed revenge on all sex traffickers She s the queen of character development and inner strength and she deserves to be enveloped in comfort and the feeling of a wood fire so much I truly love Inej and her vibes I love how she didn t waste time dwelling on the experiences that shaped her, but let them lead her to shine so bright that sun spikes form around her mind like a crown I love that she s one of those people whose warmth you want to draw in like solar light and whose laughter is the most beautiful thing you ve ever seen and who have been through hell but are still kind and loving towards other humans and have the ability to make you feel that you belong and they re so colorful and amazing and the world doesn t deserve them NINA ZENIK NINA ZENIK IS A CONSTANT REMINDER THAT GIRLS ARE BEAUTIFUL AND ETHEREAL AND I AM A PILE OF INCOHERENT SEAWEED WHEN IT COMES TO THEMI honestly wish I had hearts to love Nina with because she s a fucking earthquake, she contains all of the beauty and fury of mother earth and when she digs her heels in stamped with rage, you d wish you never crossed her but she s also one of the soft ones with beautiful curves and a smile that makes everything feel safe the ones who deserve a piece of music written for them by sufjan stevens that gets played whenever they walk into a room the ones you could hug all day and be warm forever the ones whose words you re hoarding to your chest like a touch starved dragon the ones who have those eyes that feel like coming home and a voice like a warm cup of tea and a blanket and vibes like honey drops and wow I just love Nina Zenik so much she s the bisexual queen of my heart and I am sending her my love and gentle touches, they are floating to her across the land MATTHIAS HELVAR I love matthias so much I remember when I first read this book and there were all those posts about how much people hated matthias helvar and I was so confused because I can t imagine not loving him he s really just a big squishy tender nerd at heart as much as he s been fashioned into a brutal soldier and I love him.But I also feel like a lot of people underestimate the importance of his character so much.matthias helvar is a reminder that you could have the purest intentions and the kindest of hearts and the most upstanding morals but when you re born into a society that waters the seeds of manipulative propaganda to inveigle the masses into harboring prejudice against a certain race, when you re fashioned from a very early age to sympathy support unfair and violent treatment towards racially persecuted people in your country, when it is ingrained in you as a result of your upbringing and the media that you ve consumed you get so caught up in prejudice, bias, and aggression that you lose track of yourself.matthias helvar is a reminder that you should constantly be assessing your behaviour, your language, and mindset for signs of negative and harmful practices and thought patterns he s a reminder that the sooner you come to terms with your own prejudice and stop pretending you aren t part of the problem, the sooner you can better yourself but mostly, matthias helvar is a reminder that rendering yourself of harmful beliefs and internalized prejudice takes conscious unlearning and humility he s a reminder that the process of unlearning is going to be a constant battle with no tangible finish line, only endless, arduous work and there is literally no point during this process at which you magically become enlightened and unproblematic it does not exist you might never even unlearn it fully and that s something you must accept JESPER FAHEY homeboy jesper fahey is gonna, like, get it my eternal love and support if you re looking for any good substitutes for love and personal fulfillment, just read jesper s chapters at this point, I only get out of bed because I know it s what a certain bisexual zemini sharpshooter would want me to do he s my small gentle summer child, my moon and all my stars, the light of my life, the only spot of brightness in a dark and loveless world, my greatest pride and joy..anyway I just really fucking love him and I wish he could spoon me with his lanky limbs WYLAN VAN ECK there are so many people out there that I would die for if only it meant they would have a good day and wylan van eck ison top of that list wylan van eck is pretty lights and rays of sunshine and pure goodness that somehow ends up with lighting bolts tearing through the sky and someone should put flowers in his hair and hold him and softly rub his back because I can t do it and I literally worry about him daily is he in good health is he happy does he get enough sleep if someone hurts him, I will come after them with a rusty meat cleaver and a fit of unbridled rage.though as much as we all want to act like Wylan is a meek and timid child who needs our protection, let s not forget that he repeatedly stood up to Kaz Brekker, bastard of the barrel and most dangerous man in ketterdam casually flirted with his crush right in the midst of an impossible heist and mere seconds from near death faced his abuser with so much bravery and is a brilliant dyslexic scientist and musician.basically wylan is aggressively a hufflepuff a really nice, benign fella who would kick your ass if you crossed him or any of his friends and I m so proud of him KUWEI YUL BO SCREAMS WITH A MEGAPHONE Kuwei matters just as much as the rest of the dregs and I love him so much I wish I had angel wings to protect him and soak up some of the bravery and tenderness he so effortlessly radiates Kuwei was imprisoned and forced to share a single cot with his father to recreate a drug he didn t have a hand in creating in the first place He was brave enough to try to stall the process as much as he could in order to save lives even when he so defeatedly accepted that eventually, someone is just going to kill him He was fifteen years old Kuwei faced an extremely traumatic event and his greatest revenge was consistently choosing to be kind, even though they tried to smother the warmth right out of him He was a child caught up in a war he didn t choose for himself, while they tried to make space in him for rooms to kill off innocence in He took the ashes of that prison cell and planted a garden He allowed himself to be vulnerable and put his trust in the dregs he was brave like that.PLEASE APPRECIATE KUWEI AND GIVE HIM HIS MOMENT THANK YOU RELATIONSHIPS KAZ INEJ does anyone else have that one otp that you love so fucking much you just can t, in all kind of forms, ship them with any other character and it hurts your heart just thinking of either one of them being apart from the other that s kanej for me.nothing will ever surpass the overall quality of this otp I want to have their feelings for each other tattooed on my face I really love how they have that calm and cool kind of love It s quiet and firm and steady the kind of love that comes so gently and feels like coming home and doesn t ask you for anything, but to be okay their lives have been one unspeakable horror after another but they ve still remained strong enough to contain so much devotion for each other and brave enough to break through the thick armor of bullshit to see that the smile was a mask and the composure was an act and to sift through all the darkness and self loathing and all the other negative aspects that they both carry on their shoulders kaz inej continue to inspire each other to try harder to make meaningful changes in their lives and work towards recovery and it s so so beautiful honestly it s officially impossible for me to fall in love because kaz inej get so happy and content just by being able to make each other smile so much and I don t think any other person is gonna be able to love me like that JESPER WYLAN the quality of my day is inversely proportional to how many interactions Jes Wylan have in this book in fact, it s safe to assume that at literally any given point in time, I m thinking about them and hoping they re being happy and content in a sunflower field somewhere having a picnic and eating fresh green apples or peaches I love them MATTHIAS NINA collect me if I m being corny but the concept of sworn enemies turned lovers it sounds cute they were both fashioned to harbor so much prejudice against the other s country and culture but they were able to transcend all of that and open their hearts to each other and I m sorry I don t have any discourse about how much I love them I just do anyway, the only six of crows experience is to invest your whole livelihood into this book and spend every waking moment thinking about it so let me go back to doing just that in 32..BLOG TWITTER INSTAGRAM

I was scared to start Six of Crows The hype surrounding it has been HUGE, the blurb sounded intriguing, I ve been eagerly anticipating it, and I liked but didn t love Shadow and Bone Honestly, though I needn t have worried This book is fantastic.Shadow and Bone has been called fantasy lite, but there is absolutely nothing about Six of Crows that warrants such a label It s a sweeping epic tale with six main characters, five perspectives, complex and detailed world building that is seamlessly integrated into the story, flashbacks to the characters histories, and a wonderful blend of darkness, magic, action, humour and romance. In the hands of a less skilled author, this could have been a mess But Bardugo crafts each of her characters with love and sensitivity, allowing them to be extremely badass, wicked sometimes, and unlikable in that multi layered way that actually makes them completely likable When she looked up at him, the expression on her face was a bleak map of loathing and fatigue In it, he saw the shame that came with gratitude, and he knew that in this brief moment, she was his mirror She didn t want to owe him anything either It s set in the same Grisha universe as her other books this time in an alternate Netherlands instead of Russia , but it s much darker and adult These characters are thieves, convicts and runaways Street gangs compete for territory and power The author takes all these dark real world factors and infuses them with the supernatural. The comparisons to Oceans 11 are spot on The plot is essentially about an action packed, fast paced heist They must first break into a heavily guarded prison and smuggle a convict out and then, with his help, they will attempt to break into the Ice Court a place that has never been breached all to get their hands on a LOT of money But all these characters have their own personal agendas too and because of the third person narrative we don t always know what they are.As I mentioned, the characters are so so good We have the leader Kaz who is an intimidating criminal prodigy with a secret past We have the mixture of drama and humour offered by Jesper and Wylan And there s the totally badass Inej You may still die in the dregs Inez s dark eyes had glinted I may But I ll die on my feet with a knife in my hand I think the use of third person was extremely effective in Six of Crows It allows us to view all these characters equally and also allows us to be constantly surprised I want to be clear that the romance never takes over the story it feels natural and welcome when it surfaces, which isn t too often In fact, I d say Bardugo is a bit of a tease for most of the novel and I found myself shipping Matthias and Nina so hard Gah And what did you do Matthias What did you do to me in your dreams The ship listed gently The lanterns swayed His eyes were blue fire Everything, he said, as he turned to go Everything Dark, action packed, beautifully written, and yes, even sexy When can I get the next book My Six of Crows playlist Broken Pieces by ApocalypticaShots by Imagine DragonsSick by Adelitas WayHeaven Knows by The Pretty RecklessPerfect Life by RedSprinter by TorresPure Morning by PlaceboSAIL by AwolnationPrecious by Depeche ModeBlog Facebook Twitter Instagram Youtube

The heat of the incinerator wrapped around Inej like a living thing, a desert dragon in his den, hiding from the ice, waiting for her She knew her body s limits, and she knew she had no to give She d made a bad wager It was as simple as that The autumn leaf might cling to its branch, but it was already dead The only question was when it would fall.Let go, Inej Her father had taught her to climb, to trust the rope, the swing, and finally, to trust in her own skill, to believe that if The heat of the incinerator wrapped around Inej like a living thing, a desert dragon in his den, hiding from the ice, waiting for her She knew her body s limits, and she knew she had no to give She d made a bad wager It was as simple as that The autumn leaf might cling to its branch, but it was already dead The only question was when it would fall.Let go, Inej Her father had taught her to climb, to trust the rope, the swing, and finally, to trust in her own skill, to believe that if she leaped, she would reach the other side Would he be waiting for her there Let go, Inej Should she jump now or simply wait for her body to give out My mind is spinning I tend to prefer simplicity in books I hate a ridiculously complicated plot I hate unnecessary characters For the Young Adult genre, this book can best be described as epic, because It Is Huge It is complicated It s like Ocean s Eleven for the YA fantasy crowd in the very best of ways. There are 6 main characters Typically, that s 4 than I d like The book s downfall is also what makes it great, and it s why I docked a star It s epic Perhaps too epic Too complicated books tend to confuse me and let s face it, a large cast with different POVs tend to make it extremely confusing for the reader and it is, to an extent, true in this book It is nonstop action with nary a moment to breathe There is a cast of characters in the beginning, and by god, you ll need it Sometimes I felt like I was memorizing things for a test. But the good is that the characters are all bad ass The packleader is an anti hero, which, in my opinion, is the best kind of character Kaz narrowed his eyes I m not some character out of a children s story who plays harmless pranks and steals from the rich to give to the poor I like them dirty And the book moves at a breakneck speed that ll guarantee the reader s interest. There s magic naturally But a different kind of magic than such was found in the Grisha The characters are well written, they re a ragtag band of misfits, and not exactly friends, but all are united for a common mission, and most importantly, they each have a purpose There are no redundant, extraneous characters, but each character is doing this for their own reason Four million kruge, freedom, a chance to return home She d said she wanted these things But in her heart, she couldn t bear the thought of returning to her parents Could she tell her mother and father the truth Would they understand all she d done to survive, not just at the Menagerie, but every day since Could she lay her head in her mother s lap and be forgiven What would they see when they looked at her The female characters are kick ass They re feminine, but not useless They don t try too hard to be rebels to be bad ass, to deny their own nature to prove they can play with the boys, they re just themselvesthat s confusing, I know, but I can t describe it any other way. There is romance, but so little of it, and what little there is felt natural and unobtrusive A blossoming from grudging tolerance to like, to possibly something But I consider this a great book, because the romance is not intrusive in any way Every time she moved, the reindeer cloak parted, revealing a flash of round calf, white skin, the shadow between her breasts It was deliberate He knew it She was trying to rattle him He needed to focus on the fire He d almost died, and if he didn t get a fire started, he still might.Nina snorted and lay down in the nest of pelts, propping herself on one elbow For Saint s sake, dr skelle, what s wrong with you I just wanted to be warm I promise not to ravish you in your sleep I m not afraid of you, he said irritably. Her grin was vicious Then you re as stupid as you look He stayed crouching beside the fire He knew he was meant to lie down next to her The sun had set, and the temperature was dropping He was struggling to keep his teeth from chattering, and they would need each other s warmth to get through the night It shouldn t have concerned him, but he didn t want to be near her Because she s a killer, he told himself That s why She s a killer and a witch. HALLE FREAKING LUJAH Survival rationality romance wipes away tear I never thought I d see the day

Side effects of reading Six of Crows are, but not limited to Shortness of breath Heart palpitations Nausea Weak knees Dehydration Dizziness Headache Heartache Constant sweating High blood pressure Congestive heart failure The heart is an arrow It demands aim to land true Six of Crows is 185th book I ve read this year Yes, that means this is the book that put me at my goodreads reading goal this year I am so happy that this is the book that made me hit my mark It was the perfect Side effects of reading Six of Crows are, but not limited to Shortness of breath Heart palpitations Nausea Weak knees Dehydration Dizziness Headache Heartache Constant sweating High blood pressure Congestive heart failure The heart is an arrow It demands aim to land true Six of Crows is 185th book I ve read this year Yes, that means this is the book that put me at my goodreads reading goal this year I am so happy that this is the book that made me hit my mark It was the perfect book to reach my goal with The world has been shouting, praying, and calling for diverse reads Leigh Bardugo has answered I liked but didn t love the Shadow and Bone trilogy, but it has nothing on this novel With how much hype is surrounding this book I was oh so worried about reading it However if Six of Crows isn t my top pick for the year, it will without a doubt at least be in the top five It was amazing SoC is a novel with six main characters, depending on how you look at it five plus perspectives, breath taking flashbacks, seamless world building, and twists that will make your tits drop A gambler, a convict, a wayward son, a lost Grisha, a Suli girl who has become a killer, a boy from the Barrel who had become something worse A direct quote and the most perfect sum up of the characters Each one is so different from the other Each one is a different race, different background, and has so many layers Each one has a handful of amazing different aspects, and things about them that will constantly surprise you I can t believe I m about to say this but Squad goals We have Nina this wild loud in your face curvy firecracker who will have you in stitches Matthias who is this perfectly wounded warrior who will surprise the crap out of you Wylan who is this lovable nerdy cutie pie that had me blushing for days Jesper the comic relief And then there are my two favorites Kaz and Inej Ahh just loved these two so much These two gave me everything I wanted in characters and Inej background story is lovey, her physical appearance sounds both breathtaking and unique, and her set of skills are completely bad ass She is basically a freaking ninja Oh God, and the stories and quotes from her father Break my heart why dontcha Many boys will bring you flowers But someday you ll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won t matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does Only that boy earns you heart Kaz though Oh Kaz He was my favorite of favorites His thought, his flashbacks, his story, his composure, his street smarts, his everything I have none zero zip nada complaints about him How did Leigh managed to give us such a naughty character, make him have a limp, force him to wear gloves all the time, and still managed to have me swoon over him was beyond me I want to have his babies His bad ass babies I really have no complaints character wise All these characters and their personal stories will shock and then steal your heart Each will give you a taste of who they are and what they have become and it is truly stunning I need to shut up about them before I spill all their secrets which I really want to do right about now I do really want to comment on my favorite part of this book This is something that others might have over looked, but it is something that meant a lot to me That s Inej and Nina s friendship They aren t two girls that hate each other then become friends They aren t two women who see each other as fierce competition or having to fight over a man These two women see each other as equals AND THAT is how all women should see each other Real women pick each other up not tear each other down I don t think people realize how important that truly is This needs to be highlighted in books Even if the characters would have faltered they don t it wouldn t have mattered because the plot and world building are so solid I heard a few people reviews say the middle of the book is kind of slow WHAT THE F ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT Every part of this book is flawless and demands your respect There wasn t a moment I wasn t on the edge on my seat Leigh gives you all these twist and turns without leaving you guessing on what your surrounding look like She s built a world with so many stunning features SoC is go go go, nonstop action novel that wont let you up for air It is a roller coaster ride of emotions and Wtf just happened moments The first three parts of this book set the bait out, parts four and five has you snapping for the treat, and part six hooks and pulls you in My jaw was on the floor for 99% of this book You might think you know what coming, BUT YOU WILL BE WRONG So many well planned out plot twist So many ground shaking moments So many heart crushing scenes And that ending YOU CAN T DO THAT TO PEOPLE You can t leave us hanging like this OMG and I didn t even get to mention the romance I want to talk about it Oh goodness do I want to talk about it But I wont, and if you ve ever read any of my review you know this is unheard of I love love and not wanting to talk about it must only mean one thing That it s really really good Even with the massive amount to sexual tense and stolen glances it still doesn t even overshadow the plot I m not just talking about the romance with a certain pair, I m talking romance among several Like I can t even believe how much gooey lovey dovey moments she gives us and yet didn t drown us in it Perfect just perfect. This book was EVERYTHING it was hyped up to be I laughed, I cried, I fell in love, and I have been left a mess.
